Headache and Migraine Options
The most common symptoms for headaches are pain in the forehead, temples or back of the head. You will typically experience a pounding or throbbing type of pain. Most patients say they can tell when they are going to have a headache because their neck tightens up first. You have been lead to believe the usual response to a headache should be the use of an over-the-counter medication which may or may not relieve your pain. Headaches are not a normal part of your life. Pain is not normal nor is the absence of pain an indication you are healthy. Pain merely indicates things have gotten to the point in your body that a warning signal is being created, similarly to a smoke detector going off. Now is the time do to something to prevent it from becoming worse. Merely covering up the headache with a pain reliever does not correct the problem. You need to find the cause of your headache.
Migraines are a more complex type of headache with the addition of visual disturbances, nausea and involving one of both sides of your head. They are typically more common in females than males between the ages of 10-30. Most commonly brought on by stress, menstruation, pregnancy, hunger, fatigue, sleep disturbance, bright lights and alcohol use.
The pain can be excruciating and debilitating. Usually you have a throbbing headache with an upset stomach and nausea.
Dr. McCracken has been relieving the pain of headaches/migraines by showing patients how to correct the cause of their headaches since 1976 without the use of medications and their harmful side effects. In the office he will examine you and if indicated take x-rays of your head/neck to determine the cause of your headaches. A treatment plan will be developed specifically for you. Typical treatments include spinal adjustments, trigger point therapy to irritated muscles, correctional exercises when indicated, the use of nutritional supplements and pain relieving therapies with-out side effects, such as Cold laser or electronic muscle stimulation. To correct your headaches it is essential to review of your body position for work, hobbies, any sports activities and type of pillow you sleep on.
